FLAS recipient and Portuguese Alum featured as outstanding Language Alum

Giso Broman, BA in Geography and Portuguese (2011) and MA in Library and Information Studies (2013) has been featured by the Language Institute for being a distinguished Portuguese Alum!

Giso was selected by LACIS for the FLAS award for the 2010-2011 year, where he continued to study Portuguese intensely. He is very interested in urban development.

His paper, “The Diversion of the São Francisco River: Lack of Water and Lack of Democracy,” was chosen for the 2011 Joaquim Nabuco Award which is coordinated by the Brazil Initiative at UW-Madison.
