Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies Program

Academic Programs

LACIS offers an undergraduate major, with an Honors option. Students may choose work with a faculty member in writing an Honors Thesis, or complete sufficient upper level course work to fulfill the honors requirement. Undergraduates are encouraged to study abroad for part of their academic career, although this is not a requirement of the program. LACIS also offers grants to support undergrads and recent graduates pursuing internships in Latin America.

The graduate program consists of options to pursue an MA, a dual MA/JD (law) and or PhD Minor. All three options require language proficiency, as well as interdisciplinary work in LACIS approved courses. Graduate students work with the Director and Assistant Director to plan their course of study.

In addition to graduate and undergraduate programs, LACIS also runs Summer Intensive Language institutes for the study of Portuguese and Ecuadorian Quichua.
