LACIS

Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies Program

Admissions Criteria

Minimum criteria for admission to the Program are a 3.0 grade point average in undergraduate work, presentation of GRE scores, and three strong letters of recommendation. There is no specific level of language proficiency required for admission, but entering students must take a proficiency exam in Spanish or Portuguese during the third or fourth week of their first semester. If they do not meet the proficiency requirement at that time (see section on Language Proficiency), they will be expected to take courses on a remedial basis leading to the required level. The deadline for admission applications that include a request for fellowship consideration is January 5. The deadline for the fall semester is January 5, and the deadline for spring semester is October 15.

If you are in the process of applying to our Program and have additional questions, you may contact the Graduate School for information about the status of your application.
