“Haitian Change” by: Nicxon Digacin
September 30, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Nixcon Digacin is native to rural Haiti. He has worked for different international NGOs in Haiti for the past five years, including Entrepreneurs du Monde and the World Bank. Nicxon first came to the United States in August 2016 as a fellow with the U.S. State Department’s Community Solutions Program (CSP). He completed the practicum portion of that program at Wisconsin Women Business Initiative Corporation(WWBIC). Through connections made at WWBIC, he became involved with a small Milwaukee-based nonprofit called WeBUILD Haiti. WeBUILD runs a microfinance program around Mirebalais, Haiti. Nicxon is now back in Wisconsin until mid-October sharing information about WeBUILD, Haiti and his mother’s maker/artist collective Asosysayon Fanm Vanyan 5eme (Valliant Ladies Association). Additionally, he will share information about an Internet radio station he recently launched, Radio Lib (radiolib.weebly.com), an initiative to create a new rural radio station and early warning system in Petit Goave, Haiti; and his upcoming show on W.O.R.T. on October 2.
