K-16 Outreach Event: “Languages of the World Day”

March 1 @ 8:30 am - 2:00 pm

Experience diverse languages and cultures at the University of WI-Madison.

Exemplifying the Wisconsin Idea, Languages of the World Day (formerly World Languages Day) is a signature precollege outreach program at UW-Madison that brings more than 500 Wisconsin high school students and their teachers from urban and rural school districts from around the state to campus for a college-for-a-day experience focused on languages and cultures. The program for Languages of the World Day includes 40+ breakout sessions on diverse languages, cultures, and artistic traditions led by approximately 60 UW-Madison faculty, staff and students. Languages of the World Day is highly valued by Wisconsin teachers and administrators as an important program for supporting local educational initiatives around the value of multilingualism, diversity and inclusion, as well as for sparking enthusiasm for and commitment to language and culture learning at the secondary level and beyond. It is an important outreach event for raising awareness among Wisconsin high school students and teachers of languages and world regions.
