LACIS student Angeline Morgado receives 2025-2026 Chancellor’s Undergraduate Award

by Emma Nelson, LACIS Communications Assistant

Congratulations to LACIS undergraduate Angeline Morgado Romero for being selected as a 2025-2026 Chancellor’s Undergraduate Award winner, being recognized in the Sophomore Research Award category.

This award is funded by grants from the Brittingham Wisconsin Trust, The Knapp Bequest,  and the Division for Teaching and Learning. These foundations support undergraduates, providing $3000 to pursue a research project under the mentorship of UW-Madison faculty or staff.

The funding Angeline received as a Sophomore Research Awardee will support her project titled Displaced and Blamed: The Venezuelan Diaspora’s Responses to Xenophobic Discourses in Chile. Angeline’s project is being advised by LACIS Faculty Director Dr. Sara McKinnon

LACIS is extremely proud of Angeline and her dedication to her studies and research. We cannot wait to see the work she continues to do throughout her time at UW-Madison– pursuing degrees in International Studies, Political Science, and Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies– and beyond.
