Emilia Melendi is an M.A. student in Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies (LACIS) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Project Graduate Assistant in the LACIS Program. She holds a degree in Architecture from the National University of La Plata (Argentina), where she is a graduate researcher at the Research Institute History, Theory, and Praxis of Architecture and the City (HiTePAC) and is completing a Master’s degree in Conservation, Restoration, and Intervention of Architectural and Urban Heritage. Her research focuses on architectural heritage, construction history, and the circulation of architectural and technical knowledge among Europe, the United States, and Latin America, with particular attention to identity, migration, and cultural exchange. Before joining UW–Madison, Melendi was a Visiting Scholar at the Hamer Center for Community Design at Penn State University and taught courses in History of Architecture, Theory of Architecture, and Architectural Design at the National University of La Plata.
