Federico Subervi-Vélez

Position title: Co-Editor in Chief of The Oxford Encyclopedia of Race, Ethnicity and Communication

Email: subervi@wisc.edu

Current Work:  Currently, I am starting to gather manuscripts for the second anthology of political communication in Puerto Rico. I am also working on book on how the University of Puerto Rico and its students have been portrayed in the Island’s news media. These endeavors are being developed on the heels of my two recent co-authored and co-edited books, three studies about emergency communication in Puerto Rico (see list below) and the completion of my work as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Race, Ethnicity and Communication. Also, in fall 2024 I was invited to teach three classes about public opinion, mass media, and political communication at the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras campus. Being an honorary fellow for LACIS provides me an important, valuable and prestigious academic affiliation that I would otherwise not have as a “retired” professor. This affiliation also allows me access to the UW library system, which I use as I continue my research activities. I look forward to sharing my work with students and scholars at UW and elsewhere, and also learning of LACIS research and publishing opportunities for which my expertise can be of value.
