LACIS M.A. Graduate, Jacob Sorrells, and Dr. Sara McKinnon publish in the International Journal of Intercultural Relations (IJIR)

LACIS 2025 M.A. graduate, Jacob Sorrells, along with LACIS’ Faculty director, Dr. Sara McKinnon, recently published the article “Between dreams and disillusionment: Multinational comparisons in venezuelan experiences of reception and integration in Denver, Colorado, USA” in the International Journal of Intercultural Relations (IJIR). According to Dr. McKinnon, the idea for this project was a result of Sorrells’ participation in her Communication Arts course on “Migration, Mobility, and Stoppage”.

Jacob is currently working at the Denver Municipal Public Defender’s Office where he provides supportive services to migrants inside the criminal justice system. Next fall, he will be attending the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law as a recipeint of the Chancellor’s Scholarship Program. This scholarship provides full-tuition support for students who have demonstrated excellence in academics and public service.
